In late June, Barneys New York rang with a rather exciting proposition: Three hundred copies of that month’s PaperCity were needed for the Dallas store’s windows. We couldn’t bundle up the copies fast enough — and what followed was a clever installation by the store’s Dallas display manager, Kevin McCartney. On level one? Men’s suits and trenches by Jil Sander and Alexander McQueen, propped atop a mosaic of folded PaperCitys. Upstairs? A swirly installation set behind three more mannequin gents, this time in fedoras and hipster attire from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Alas, it’s all gone now — but we loved our fashionable 15 minutes.
