Alberto Lombardi’s newest accomplishment is 31, a Eurocentric champagne and cocktail lounge atop Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village. Lombardi collaborated with Duncan Miller Ullman to transform the second story into a stylish drinks boîte, with a patio that features a retractable awning, tufted wingback sofas and Carrera marble bar. Beneath the mid-century-inspired chandeliers, more than 20 varieties of bubbly and sparkling wines are on offer, along with any good Europhile’s pablum: exquisite caviar and foie gras. Champagne concoctions and specialty libations abound — we love the martini with fresh watermelon juice, melon liquor, citrus vodka and lemon juice. Chef Eric Brandt crafted the menu, with divine snapper and mango ceviche, lobster sliders, cilantro and duck meatballs, and a rock shrimp and watermelon cocktail. Ciao….
