Charming West Egg, a bolt-hole of a shop, is tucked away on Lake Street, which runs between Armandos restaurant and the new Billy Reid bungalow, just off Westheimer near Kirby. Yes, you need those directions to find it. Stocked are an assortment of great at-home evening skirts and fluttery go-with silk tops from Times Two; Legitimutt’s candy-colored leather leashes, tartan jackets, dog bowls and other pup gear; Nancey Chapman’s dynamite long dresses, tunics and tops handmade in India, where she currently resides; Moo Boo’s confection dresses for tots; and new-for-fall design, art, architecture, fashion and pop-culture books from Curate, PaperCity’s bookshop. Armando and Cinda Palacios’ New World Museum is the inspiration for the shop, with charming paintings from Franco Mondini and oysters, mushrooms and pomegranates by artist Henri Gadbois among the offerings. West Egg — named after the tiny spit of land where Jay Gatsby resides — has new goods arriving daily. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm, 2626 Westheimer, Suite 100 (facing Lake Street), 713.520.1738. (Just ask for West Egg; information curatebooks@papercitymag.com.)
