The Couple: Annie Bayer and Scott Goldberg
Wedding Date: July 4, 2009
Location, location: The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas for the ceremony and reception
Our favorite details:
• Neiman Marcus at The Shops at Willow Bend inspired the decor, which included strands of white butterflies suspended from the ceiling, trees and walls — even a cannon filled with colorful butterflies that exploded onto the dance floor during the horah dance.
• The couple exited the ceremony to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” by Stevie Wonder, with “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe” by Barry White as their first dance.
• Annie surprised Scott with a groom’s cake from Le Gateau Cakery, topped with a fondant replica of his hometown of Greenwood, Mississippi.
• The Fourth of July holiday was celebrated the night of the wedding with red, white and blue vodka-spiked snow cones. Upon the couple’s departure, guests held sparklers as Annie and Scott ran through and climbed into the family’s red Mercedes convertible.

The Couple: Nina Knell and Patrick “Deck” Sachse
Wedding Date:  July 11, 2009
Location, location: Quigley’s Chapel of St. James in Chicago for the ceremony; Four Seasons Hotel Chicago for the reception
Our favorite details:
• Nina wore a Carolina Herrera gown, from Carolina Herrera in Highland Park Village, adorned with abstract flowers; the lining of Deck’s Isaiah evening jacket, from Stanley Korshak, was embroidered with his initials and their wedding date.
• Artist Patricia Van Essche of PVE Design captured scenes of the day in watercolor — from the vows at Quigley’s Chapel of St. James to the reception at the Four Seasons Hotel.
• As a nod to her Sicilian roots, the entrance to the Italian garden-like reception was lined with cypress trees.
• Besides music from the Ken Arlen Orchestra, the bride’s parents surprised the couple by flying in the Los Angeles–based Jersey Boys to entertain the crowd, complete with go-go dancers.
• At 11 pm, Nina changed into a black Carolina Herrera dress for the after-party across the hall — a black and pink club-like atmosphere inspired by her favorite jeweler, Chrome Hearts, with mini cheeseburgers, French fries and milkshakes for late-night snacking.

The Couple: Cindy James and Paul Kirkpatrick
Wedding Date: October 10, 2009
Location, location: Prairie Dog Imports for the ceremony; Nasher Sculpture Center for the reception
Our favorite details:
• Forty family members and friends dined at the T-Room at Forty Five Ten for the rehearsal dinner, with chef Greg O’Neill in charge of the cuisine. Polaroid photos of the guests’ names served as place cards, as a nod to Cindy’s love of photography.
• Paul’s father officiated the service at Robert Bellamy’s compound, Prairie Dog Imports. In keeping with the nature-inspired surroundings, river stones were placed atop programs in the guest seats.
• The couple mailed a piece of canvas to each guest that asked, “What does love mean to you?” In return, they received nearly 90 works of art that were pieced together to create a tapestry displayed at the entrance to the reception at the Nasher Sculpture Center.
• A photo booth was stationed near the bar for instant snaps, with Cindy and Paul’s wedding logo printed on the bottom of each strip.

The Couple: Abbie Steffler and Dawson Oswalt
Wedding Date: May 2, 2009
Location, location: First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Worth for the ceremony; Thistle Hill (1904) for the reception
Our favorite details:
• Their decadent Southern menu consisted of deviled eggs, shrimp and grits with collard greens and bacon, Vidalia onion tarts, mini crab cakes and handmade margaritas — shaken that very evening by the father of the bride.
• The Crème de la Crème cake was styled with an old-world sugar floral arch and a vintage ’60s cake topper with lace from the bride’s mother’s veil, handmade by the bride’s great-grandmother.
• The guestbook table was strewn with glass cloches filled with garden roses, geranium and ivy topiaries, bridal and family portraits, and an array of peonies, tulips, peaches and clusters of maidenhair fern.
• The save-the-date card, napkins, amenity boxes for hotel guests and the Southern toffee given as final favors all featured the couple’s silhouettes.
• An activity table kept the children occupied with white paper, markers and crayons, books, toy cars, figurines and colorful pinwheels.
• A vintage white Cadillac whisked the bride and groom away after the reception.

The Couple:  Martha Glasgow and Steve Greenberg
Wedding Date: May 2, 2009
Location, location: Dallas residence of Lisa and Steve Lieberman for the ceremony and reception
Our favorite details:
• Martha and her father followed a Glasgow family member playing the bagpipes en route to the chuppah, which was constructed of birch branch and suspended candles for thedusk ceremony.
• Tart provided the bride’s cake and the groom’s cupcakes (topped with the bride and groom’s monogram from their wedding invitation), with Wendy Krispin Caterer passing Dovebars (Steve’s favorite sweet) to guests for dessert.
• Martha slipped out of her Priscilla of Boston wedding gown into a white Billy Reid button-down oxford and jeans midway through the reception as rain had drenched her dress, making it too heavy for late-night dancing.
• Family friends wove through the reception with overflowing baskets of brightly colored pashminas (picked up in New York City by the bride’s mom) for each guest to choose a favorite color as a take-home favor.
