The Eatsie Boys (chef Matt Marcus, Ryan Soroka and Alex Vassilakidis) and college pal Aaron Corsi plan to open their construction-delayed 8th Wonder Brewery any day now in EaDo. Look for aspiring master brewer Corsi and the clan to brew up styles old and new, including obscure beer recipes, with some coming soon to a restaurant near you … Also any moment now, two new ventures from Darla Lexington and her mom Michelle Coopwood’s Corner Entertainment are set to debut in the former Brownstone space on Virginia: 1919 Wine & Mixology (where they promise you can order a vodka or gin and tonic without any back talk) and, upstairs, a piano bar called The Oak Bar. The two concepts join the just-opened Corner Table by Bruce Molzan in the Virginia Street space … Hotel Derek is getting a makeover, care of the design firm Flick-Mars. Look for the dust to settle next month when they unveil a riot of “bold colors, textured fabrics and natural materials that reflect the hotel’s ‘indigenous surroundings,’” according to the release … Remember when producer Rich Gore first brought the Food Network’s stars on a roadshow to Houston about a decade ago? Now that diners and cooks have become increasingly discerning about what they eat and where they dine, he’s created Food University at Caesar’s Palace, a three-day sojourn of cooking and eating alongside some of the biggest chefs and food pros in America.
