The fashion world halts at the mention of Mademoiselle C, a documentary chronicling French-born Carine Roitfeld’s transition from renowned fashion editor of Vogue Paris to her new life at the helm of CR Fashion Book, one of the most watched recent magazine launches in the world (now on issue three). Before her time at Vogue, this global style influencer and creator was stylist and muse to creative director Tom Ford at Gucci in the 1990s; Ford makes a PA in the film, as does Karl Lagerfeld (watch for his scene-stealing moment with the baby carriage), Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexander Wang, Jay-Z, Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier and Diane von Furstenberg. Directed by famed fashion documentarian Fabien Constant, who’s well-known to fashion insiders from his other cinematic releases including The Day Before (behind the scenes at Fashion Week), Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton and The Vogue Fashion Night Out. Mademoiselle C is revelatory, exposing both professional and personal sides of the fabled fashion arbiter, one of the two most influential fashion editors in the world (the other being Anna, of course.)  Roitfeld says, “Seeing myself on-screen for the first time was like walking naked down the Champs-Élysées.” For our exclusive Q&A with director Constant, visit papercitymag.com. Dallas is one of six cities worldwide premiering the film Wednesday, September 11, at the Angelika Film Center. angelikafilmcenter.com.
