Hotel ZaZa plays home away from home for many musicians and
athletes while in town; so, it was no surprise that they hosted the Major
League Soccer All Star Game Celebration Party. Tucked away in the Phantom
Ballroom the who’s who of US Major League Soccer gathered and welcomed all
stars and fans alike.
Rock stars and athletes crossed paths all night long with
more than a few musicians enjoying the party. Spotted taking pictures with fans
and mingling with guests were Houston’s own Baby Bash, Katy native and American Idol Alum Kimberly
Caldwell and in from New York for the
festivities was Phife of the
legendary group A Tribe Called Quest. Caldwell will be singing the National
Anthem at the actual game this evening.
Not a detail was spared when it came to the soccer themed
decor. Glasses, pillows and even the cupcakes were all outfitted with the
official All Star emblem. Chief Operating Officer of the Houston Dynamos Chris
Canetti was enthusiastic about the game
being held here this year especially on the heels of the World Cup. “This is a
great opportunity for our city” he said. “We couldn’t have planned this timing
any better with the World Cup and everything.” Houston Texans president James
Rootes was also on hand to show some
hometown hospitality. “This is going to be a good year for us” he told MLS
commissioner Don Garber and from
the looks of it Houston sports enthusiasts won’t be let down this season.
