It was an ode to all thing worn and wrought when Preservation Houston presented the 2012 Good Brick Awards at its annual dinner. Chairmen Jane-Page Crump and Bill Stubbs oversaw the evening at the River Oaks Country Club, which honored as Community Pillars first lady of real estate Martha Turner and Drayton McLane Jr. Good Brick recipients included First City National Bank Building, now One City Centre (AIA Houston Fifty Year Award); The Menil Collection (AIA Houston Twenty-Five Year Award) and the glorious emporium of enlightenment that is the Julia Ideson Library (Stewart Title Award). Incorporated in 1978 as Greater Houston Preservation Alliance, the newly rebranded Preservation Houston is the city’s only group that relentlessly pushes for saving the Bayou City’s built heritage.
