Damaged couture handbags were given new life at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft’s aptly named Crafting a Legacy Luncheon. More than 275 guests gathered at the River Oaks Country Club for the afternoon of fashion and fun, which culminated in the Art as Accessory silent auction led by The Vintage Contessa’s Donae Chramosta, who donated the luxury bags that were repurposed into biddable artworks by current and former HCCC artists-in-residence (AIR) including Melissa Walter and Edward McCartney. Models further tempted the crowd with accessories from the Craft Center’s Asher Gallery. Committed to craft: chairs Carrin Patman and Paula Arnold; honorees Melanie Gray and Mark Wawro; HCCC director Julie Farr and founder Sara Morgan; and speaker Clint Willour, who touted the impact of the AIR program.
