This season’s trendiest challenge was Little Black Dress Designer — the fourth annual scholarship contest presented by Momentum Porsche’s Diane Caplan and produced by Neil Hamil’s Jeff Shell, along with chairs Leisa Holland-Nelson, Linda Kuykendall, and Vicki Rizzo. Budding Texas designers offered their takes on the LBD, the fashion staple conceived by Chanel in 1926. The top 10 were annointed by a celebrity panel including Project Runway’s Chloe Dao, PaperCity’s Kate Allen Stukenberg, and cosmetics king Edward Sanchez. At the House of Blues, $7,500 was bestowed among five rising stars: first-place winner Erick Tovar and second-to fifth-place finishers Mfon Ogbonna, Bao Tran, Chanel Latouche, and Chinaza Moses.
