Perhaps no handbag design is as evocative and enduring as Fendi’s Baguette. Who can lay their eyes on one without recalling the approach of the new millennium, when everything seemed utterly fresh, fun and even a bit frivolous? There is nothing frivolous, however, about how many Baguettes have sold over the bag’s 15-year lifetime — a milestone celebrated by Family Services at a recent luncheon at Fendi’s Galleria boutique. Chairman Jana Fant, honorary chairman Debbie Festari, and Fendi’s Karin Tentori oversaw the mid-afternoon repast, which also kicked off the organization’s Una Notte in Italia fund-raiser, which took place weeks later. The order of the day, naturally, was incredible Italian ready-to-wear, leather goods and accessories. Multo belle: last year’s Una Notte co-chairman Melissa Mithoff, Susan Plank, Lisa Pitts, Joanna Hartland, Becca Cason Thrash, Kelli Weinzierl, DeeDee Marsh, Suzanne Getty, jeweler Liz Glanville, Fendi’s Shatora Morrow and Francisco.
