The Jewel Charity Ball is never short on brilliance, as 2,000 guests at the 59th annual fund-raiser can attest. Designer Bill Robertson transformed the Fort Worth Convention Center into a field of dandelions — his interpretation of “Simple Wishes,” this year’s theme.

Co-chairmen Valerie Mallick and Jan Scully certainly made the dreams of Cook Children’s Medical Center come true, helping to generate more than $3.3 million to support young patients with uncompensated care. After a cocktail hour, silent auction and dinner, the dance floor swiftly filled as Rhythm Nation hit the stage. Those needing a break from the boogie headed to the Eiseman Jewels counter — official jeweler of the evening — for a different kind of breathtaking experience. But lest you think it was all razzle-dazzle, JCB president Michele Reynolds ensured everyone, including herself, kept it real, saying, “My simple wish is to live in the present moment and always appreciate the little things.” Having a ball: Mary and Tom Bates, Janet and Frank Cappuccio, Jessica and Matthew Upchurch, LuJo and Mac Churchill, Therese and Tom Moncrief, and Noel and David Nolet.
