Molly and Jim Crownover’s River Oaks residence was the perfect place to kick off the maiden UNICEF Audrey Hepburn Society Ball. Hepburn, a recipient of UNICEF aid herself following WWII in Holland, was a goodwill ambassador for the organization and traveled extensively to raise awareness of the plight of children and mothers. The inaugural ball (September 6) honors Margaret Williams as the first recipient in the nation of the group’s Philanthropist of the Year Award. Making the get-together all the more memorable was the presence of Hepburn’s son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, in from Italy to thank guests for their support and to sign his new book, Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit, written in honor of his mother’s extraordinary life. NGO advocates: Ball co-chairs Rose Cullen, Leela and Nat Krishnamurthy, and David Wuthritch; ball honorary chair Joanne King Herring; Merle Yarborough; Cynthia and Tony Petrello; Pat Breen; Linda and Walter McReynolds; Susan Boggio; Neda Ladjevardian; Eileen Lawal; and Cora Sue and Harry Mach.
