The Asian Pacific American Heritage Association treated a group of more than 500 culturally savvy Houstonians to a Far East experience in celebration of their 21st anniversary gala. Guests wore in their best international attire, from colorful kimonos to sparkling saris. A fashion show of traditional Asian styles such as Vietnamese Ao Dai silk ensembles by designer Danny Nguyen and a performance from singer Anthony Boggess-Glover wowed all. After dinner, honorees Taseer Badar, Garrick Hatfield, Dr. Hien Van Tran, Sheriff Adrian Garcia, and Houston assistant chief of police John Chen were presented with their awards for communal contributions contribution, followed by APAHA scholarship awards to Grace Li and David Vien. Diverse devotees included APAHA prez Charlene Chuang, gala chair Mariam Issa, co-chair Barbara Gallo, committee chair Mirrat Noon, Tammy Tran, Kathy Khanh Han, Terry Shaikh, and Munir Ibrahim.
