It was truly a Breakfast Club affair when the Society for the Performing Arts welcomed guest speaker Molly Ringwald to the Jones Hall stage. The author, singer and actress best known for her star turns in such films as Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink spoke of her personal journey through the arts and how vital arts education is to school-aged children. After a lunch by Jackson and Company, chairs Melissa and Michael Mithoff presented the annual Ann Sakowitz Performing Arts Advocate Award to Michael’s mother Ginni Mithoff. Reminiscing: SPA president and CEO June Christensen, chairman of the Board Melanie Gray, Richard Mithoff with granddaughter Mia Mithoff, Lynn Wyatt, and Robert Sakowitz.
