Rock Star Photographer is Headed to Dallas for One Must-See Night: It’s Another DMA Coup

The Dallas Museum of Art knows how to keep us on our toes. Arguably one of the greatest contemporary photographers of our time, Annie Leibovitz, is making her way to Dallas this fall.

Part of the DMA’s Arts & Letters Live performing arts series, Leibovitz will present works from her new book Annie Leibovitz: Portraits 2005–2016, at SMU’s McFarlin Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday, November 14, at 7:30 pm.

Leibovitz, who is most known for her photographs that have appeared in Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Vogue over the course of 20-plus years, boasts a portfolio packed with iconic images of influential people, including Queen Elizabeth II, Rihanna, Meryl Streep, Jeff Koons, Barack Obama, and Anna Wintour.

Her work has also been showcased in museums around the world, including the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.; the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris; and the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Leibovitz is frequently honored for her images. In addition to receiving a Living Legend honor from the Library of Congress, she’s been given the International Center of Photography’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Centenary Medal of the Royal Photographic Society, the Wexner Prize (whose previous recipients include architect Renzo Piano and filmmaker Martin Scorsese), and the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities.
