London’s Most Famous Theater Is Headed to Texas: See Shows — and Acting Greats — in Houston & Dallas

BY // 08.03.16

It’s indisputable: Shakespeare is timeless. His words and wit shine still, 400 years (he shuffled off this mortal coil in 1616) after his death. Murder, passion, mayhem, farce, magic, fable … all things human, really, come to life in his works, whether one reads them, experiences them on a stage, or watches them on the big screen. Hamlet and Puck will never die.

Shakespeare fans, rejoice, because The Globe on Screen is coming to Houston and Dallas movie theaters. You can see Measure for Measure, The Merchant of Venice, and Richard II, in high-definition splendor, in productions staged at the Globe Theatre, without having to fly to England. (For tickets and schedules, click here.) Don’t miss stellar performances from Jonathan Pryce and Charles Edwards, or Jonathan Munby’s production of The Merchant of Venice. It’s as if you are in a seat at the famous theater.

In Houston, River Oaks Theatre is hosting the screenings ($15 per ticket), and in Dallas and Plano Angelika Film Center is the place to be ($20). (And for those of you in other cities, check the link above for screenings in your area.)

The play’s the thing!
