Dozens of chandeliers, intricate custom-made masks, stunning gowns, exquisite jewelry and world-class art created a beautiful scene at this year’s Houston Ballet Ball. Chairs Melissa and Michael Mithoff and Henry Richardson and Monsour Taghdisi had the Wortham Theater Center’s Grand Foyer entirely transformed by Richard Flowers of The Events Company for The Masked Ball: a Tribute to Romeo and Juliet. Tables were set with mirrors, crystal candelabras and floating candles in lieu of flowers. Houston Ballet Academy students and company members gave an elegant performance to honor Phoebe and Bobby Tudor. More than 450 revelers enjoyed a gourmet dinner from Jackson and Company and bid on Tenenbaum & Co. jewels (including a show-stopping sapphire and diamond necklace in the live auction) and art from Barbara Davis Gallery. A massive LED screen in a gilded frame projected live images from the dance floor, which was packed thanks to band Party on the Moon, in from Atlanta for the evening and underwritten by Diane Lokey Farb. The evening raised an impressive $1.22 million — the second highest total ever for the event. Among the glamorous: Tenenbaum & Co.’s Tony Bradfield and Kevin Black, Barbara DavisJohn and Becca Cason Thrash, Soraya and Scott McClelland, Lucinda and Javier Loya, David Peck, Erin Stewart, Jim Nelson, Shelly and Marty Power, and Joanne King Herring.
