The Best Places to Watch Fourth of July Fireworks, See Live Music and Float: Your Complete Dallas Guide

BY // 06.29.17

June is drawing to a close, which means one thing: Fourth of July celebrations are right around the corner. Need a little help planning your holiday weekend? We rounded up some of Dallas’ best Independence Day celebrations – because even if you have a bevy of barbecues and pool parties to attend, you’ve got to end the night with fireworks.

Here are the best places to catch an explosive show, plus one place to catch a Willie Nelson show. Happy Fourth, y’all!

July 1 — Rockin’ the River

Live country music, food, beer, fireworks and a river to float — what else could you ask for on Independence Day? Rockin’ the River at Fort Worth’s Panther Island Pavilion offers all those things and more on Saturday July 1 (and every Saturday until August 5, for that matter).

Go with the flow and celebrate the Fourth a few days early with a live concert right on the Trinity River. Read about what to bring, what not to bring, and more here.

July 2 – Outlaw Music Festival

Outlaw Music Festival will bring Texas legend Willie Nelson to town, and he’s bringing some talented friends with him. See Sheryl Crow, The Avett Brothers, Hayes Carll, Margo Price, and Lukas Nelson & The Promise of The Real at this all-day festival on July 2. In addition to live music there will be plenty of local eats, craft beer, and artisan goods for sale. You can purchase tickets here

July 3 – Kaboom Town

This is one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in the country, but it’s more than just that. Addison’s Kaboom Town also includes a jaw-dropping air show, and a family-friendly carnival, complete with a midway and a ferris wheel.

Pro tip: The gates open at 4 pm, and an early arrival is necessary if you want a good view of the show. You can find the whole schedule of events on the official website.

July 3 – Red, White and Boom on the Bridge

The Ronald Kirk Bridge and the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge offer some of the city’s best views, and now they’re offering one of the city’s best Fourth of July blowouts. Hear live music from local talent while watching fireworks illuminate the Dallas skyline on July 3. Food, drink, and children’s activities will also be involved. Learn more about the event here

July 4 – Fair Park Fourth

When the Fair Park gates open and the ferris wheel fires up, you know that it’s an important American holiday. But now you don’t have to wait until October to get in on the fair-style fun. Fair Park’s annual Fourth of July celebration is back for its sixth year and you can experience all the best things about Fair Park — live concerts, fair food, midway games, rides, and a fireworks show — in the middle of summer.

By the way, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs will make an appearance. Admission is free to the park, but a ticket is required for access to the midway. Read more about the celebration here
