Dallas’ Ultimate Thanksgiving Restaurant Guide: Where to Eat Out on Turkey Day

BY India Pougher // 11.15.16

Food is indisputably the hallmark of Thanksgiving day. Whether you celebrate with a grand family-style lunch or a candlelit dinner, everyone looks forward to tasting the turkey that’s been roasting all day, and dipping into a fresh pumpkin pie.

If toiling in the kitchen isn’t your idea of ringing in the holiday season, these divine Dallas restaurants are offering an out. Gather the family post-parade (or football game) to try one of these alternatives.

Lark on the Park
2015 Woodall Rodgers Freeway

Scratch that note about lunch and celebrate with brunch instead. This central downtown Dallas hot spot will offer its weekend brunch menu plus Thanksgiving must-haves like smoked turkey breast, mashed potatoes, and sage gravy. Served from 11 am to 3 pm on Thursday, November 24.

The Mansion Restaurant
2821 Turtle Creek Blvd., 214.443.4747

After a post-brunch respite, gather your friends and family for an elegant evening at The Mansion Restaurant, which just welcomed new executive chef Tom Parlo. Highlights of the three-course menu include fall greens tossed with molasses, local chèvre and candied pecans, organic free-range turkey served with yams, Brussels sprouts and cranberry chutney, and a decadent dessert buffet with the most holiday-appropriate cranberry macaron.

The Grape
2808 Greenville Ave., 214.828.1981

If the ambiance of home is more appealing on such a family-centric holiday, then a ready-made meal may just be best alternative. The Grape is now booking orders for their Thanksgiving to-go menu, which includes post oak smoked natural turkey, maple whipped sweet potatoes and sage, golden raisin, and Texas shiitake bread stuffing. And, who can resist leaving without a bowl of their heavenly mushroom soup?

Take-home bowls are, of course, on the menu. Turkey dinner options range from $180 (serves 4-6 guests) to $330 (serves 10-15 guests).

Fearing’s
2121 McKinney Ave., 214.922.4848

This three-course Thanksgiving dinner brings the southwestern flavors of Texas to the traditional holiday meal. Must-try menu items include the cherry-glazed quail, the eponymous chef’s famous tangerine-glazed turkey with tortilla dressing (served with jalapeño cranberry relish) and for dessert, chocolate bourbon pecan pie with chocolate glaze and salted cookie crumble. Lunch (11:30 am to 3 pm) and dinner (5 to 8 pm) are $100 per person and $30 for children 12 and younger.

Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
702 Ross Ave., 214.744.3287

The taste of Texas comes through in this three-course menu. Try the lobster butternut squash bisque or the venison tamale to start. Follow with the traditional Thanksgiving feast (turkey, cornbread dressing, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, and cranberry sauce), and end with a slice of irresistible Jack Daniels pecan pie. Dinner is $49 per person.

The Second Floor by Scott Gottlich
13340 Dallas Pkwy., 972.450.2978

Stop by the Westin Galleria Dallas (you know what floor) for a Thanksgiving buffet. Highlights include roasted pumpkin soup, a carving station with your choice of roasted turkey breast, beef wellington and roasted salmon, and sweet potato confit with coriander marshmallows. Dessert features an assortment of tartlets including pumpkin, pecan, and buttermilk flavor. Reservations are $68 for adults and $25 for children (it’s free for children 5 and younger).

Bisous Bisous Patisserie
3700 McKinney Ave., 214.613.3570

What nearly rivals the turkey at Thanksgiving dinner? The dessert. Bisous Bisous is now taking orders for special seasonal desserts like pumpkin spice and bourbon pecan pie macarons, pecan pumpkin mousse, apple hazelnut tarts, pumpkin cream cheese cruffins, and pumpkin cruffin rings.

What’s a cruffin you say? Only the most Instagram-able, mouthwatering combination of a muffin and croissant to ever grace your dining room table. And — isn’t cruffin a much more fun word than cronut? Orders must be made by November 19.
