Donut Fever!

New Heights Restaurant Highlights Houston’s Two Most Important Food Groups

F.E.E.D TX Restaurant Group‘s Lee Ellis is bringing it back to basics with his latest concept, Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts. Located at 601 Heights Blvd., the newly opened concept adds to the laundry list of restaurants operating in The Heights … but don’t expect this eatery to get lost in the shuffle.

“Who doesn’t love fried chicken and donuts? Lee’s Fried Chicken & Donuts is the perfect melding of some of the South’s best comfort food served in one of Houston’s most historic and personality-fueled neighborhoods,” Ellis says.

Lee starts with antibiotic- and hormone-free chicken from Springer Mountain Farms; from there, it’s fried, and can be enjoyed on its own or accompanied by sides like macaroni, cole slaw, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, potato salad and warm rolls. The chicken is also served in combos ranging from two to eight pieces. If you’re not in the mood for straight fried chicken, the menu also includes a fried chicken sandwich, a fried chicken salad sandwich, the pulled chicken chopped kale salad (served with peanut dressing) and kolaches (sausage and cheese and ham and cheese).

Of course, we can’t forget about the other menu highlight — donuts. Lee’s offers fresh glazed raised and cake donuts. Expect whimsical flavors like blueberry cake with blueberry icing, vanilla with Mexican chocolate icing, and praline bacon and caramel icing. However, the sweets don’t end at donuts. Patrons can also walk away with Lee’s apple hand pie and big-as-your-face chocolate chip cookies.

The best part (other than the obvious fried chicken and donuts)? Not only can you dine in, but you can also grab your meal to-go from the drive-through as early as 7 am.
