Kent Rathbun Has Been a Busy Guy …
In November, the restaurateur announced a new Jasper’s location in Richardson. Located on the corner of Plano Road and State Street, the restaurant will feature a modern outdoor patio and food will highlight regional American cuisine. The menu will include rotisserie chicken, seafood, aged steaks and salads. Jasper’s is slated to open summer 2015. Meanwhile, another Rathbun property, Blue Plate, has been converted into an events space. The former restaurant is now called The Kitchen at 6130 and is a private event venue and catering kitchen for Kent Rathbun Catering. They are now accepting reservations for holiday parties, accommodating up to 120 people when seated and 165 standing.

Where’s the Beef?
Dallas Chop House reopened for dinner on November 3. Executive Chef Chad Starling added several new items to the menu, including a steak flight (Akaushi Wagyu, NY Strip, 21 and 60-day dry-aged rib eye), sautéed arctic char, red wine-braised short ribs and scallops. Another well-known steak house, Perry’s, opened a second location in Frisco on November 17. Located in the Stonebriar Mall, the new Perry’s still has the signature towering wine wall, private dining areas and outdoor patio, featuring live music.hey

Eureka!
Eureka! Restaurant Group opens its first Dallas location at 3700 McKinney Avenue on December 8. Known for its vast selection of craft beers on tap and more than 40 small-batch whiskeys, the casual American restaurant will be a relaxed spot to grab a bite and beer. Local produce and locally baked breads will be highlighted, as well as signature all-natural, vegetarian-fed burgers like the bone marrow burger. Other menu items include all-day breakfast burrito and osso bucco ribs.

Hold the Fort
Eddy Thretipthuangsin plans to open a new Thai restaurant in Fort Worth in January. Kin Kin Urban Thai, to be located at 2801 W. 7th Street, pays homage to his mother, Pat, and will be a culinary journey to his homeland and interpretation of traditional Thai cuisine. Also in Fort Worth, Righteous Foods opened in early November at 3405 W. 7th Street. The casual restaurant features healthful foods and cocktails and Stumptown Roasters Coffee.

It’s All Greek
OSO Food and Wine, a Mediterranean bistro, opened in early November in North Dallas. Located at Preston and Forest, the small boutique restaurant only serves 20 tables, which allows owner Michael Cox to change the menu regularly and use high-quality ingredients. Food will be Greek- and Lebanese-influenced but include all the flavors of the Mediterranean, presented with a modern twist.

On a Sweet Note
Joy Macarons, created by native Texan Liz Lanier, now has a storefront in the Bishop Arts District. Lanier’s fan base grew during pop-up markets and Food Truck events around town; now devotees can pick up a box of the delicate French treasures at 839 W. Davis Street.
