Hillary Clinton to be Inducted Into Women’s Hall of Fame in Houston: Powerhouse World Leaders to Come to Town for Gala

BY // 08.11.17

Only a few weeks before taking the stage in Dallas with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will bask in the spotlight solo at the International Women’s Forum Hall of Fame gala at the Hilton Americas-Houston. Clinton will be inducted into the prestigious international organization’s Hall of Fame on October 27.

Having helped turn Harris County blue last November, Clinton is a welcome presence among Houston supporters. Less than six months ago, she was in the city in April as keynote speaker at the Annie’s List Houston Luncheon.

The upcoming October evening will be the grand finale of a two-day empowerment conference that is touting attendance of close to 700 women from across the globe with such notable speakers as Occidental Petroleum president and CEO Vicki Hollub, International Olympic Committee vice president Nawal El Moutawakel of Morocco, and IBM Asia Pacific vice president Janet Ang of Singapore. A pride of powerful women are expected to join the confab that is focused on building global leadership for women who have excelled in significant and diverse achievement.

The conference is slated to address a variety of subjects including STEM mentoring, combatting human trafficking, global health priorities, the future of philanthropy and the obesity crisis.

Two of Houston’s most influential women on the national stage, former Mayor Annise Parker and Gracie Cavnar, CEO and board chair of the Recipe for Success Foundation, are chairing the two-day event that kicks off on October 25 with a reception at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The gathering closes with the gala at which Clinton will be keynote speaker. That evening is being chaired by Susie Criner, Gulf Coast Entertainment owner and community leader, and renowned interiors architect Lauren Rottet.

With her induction, Hillary Clinton will join an international host of IWF Hall of Fame honorees that includes such preeminent figures as former Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Madeleine Albright, Chilean author Isabel Allende, journalist Christiane Amanpour, photographer Annie Leibovitz, and former Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.
