Men’s Fashion Week Buzz, Oyster Fever and a Sad Passing: What We’re Reading Now

BY // 07.24.15

The inaugural New York Fashion Week: Men’s took place earlier this month, ending on July 16. We enjoyed seeing the new collections and applaud all of the designers who chose to participate, including John Varvatos, Todd Snyder, and Carlos Garciavelez. We’re also taking a look at some follow-up reporting on the week here.

Oysters are near and dear to many people in Texas, and whether we like them raw, roasted, or in stews, there’s no denying that come oyster season the bivalves are consumed with abandon. Do you know the name Rirkrit Tiravanija? He’s been doing some interesting things in the art world, at the intersection of food, cooking and collaborative art. At Art Basel he was cooking in a project with architects and another chef. Now he’s back stateside partnering with his longtime dealer, Gavin Brown, on something delicious. Read about it here.

We are sad to hear that Ingrid Sischy has passed away. We’ve read her work avidly over the years, and admired her leadership of Interview. She championed many female artists and contributed a multitude of outstanding pieces to The New Yorker.

Green roofs are catching on everywhere. They are great for the environment, and can be spectacularly beautiful. In some countries and cities they are becoming law. Here’s a look at six projects around the world that caught our eye.

The Four Seasons, one of our favorite culinary spaces in the world, is an institution, but all things must pass. No, it is not closing (gasp), but the Philip Johnson-designed restaurant is getting new overseers. Read about it here.
