The Most Unique Music Instrument in the World: You’ve Never Heard Anything Like This Before

BY // 01.23.16

The didgeridoo is a special instrument, and if you’ve never experienced one live, I’ve got a tip for you: Get a ticket to the Archaeological Institute of America Houston Chapter’s “Stories and Songs From the Beginning of the World” now.

A master of the instrument will be in the spotlight; his name is Cameron McCarthy, and you’ll want to hear his music and tales. It’s a Schlumberger Family Talk. McCarthy’s performance is not the only Aboriginal-related events arranged by the Houston chapter of the AIA for the weekend. There’s a film screening, a lecture on rock art, and a family affair: “Apache Encounters — Aboriginal Australia,” a hands-on archaeology fair.

What: Stories and Songs from the Beginning of the World

When: Saturday, January 30, 10 a.m.

Where: Houston Museum of Natural Science, 5555 Hermann Park Drive

Tariff: Free with museum admission
