Taylor Swift Dresses Up For Houston: Full-Glam, Max-Effort Concert Shows Real Love For City

BY Ashley McElmurry // 09.10.15

Buses slowly filed in one by one, with Taylor Swift’s signature “red lip look” displayed across the sides of the vehicles, while the pop music superstar followed behind. Minute Maid Park was as packed as I have ever seen it, with 45,000 screaming fans on hand for the star’s Wednesday-night Houston concert.

It wasn’t long before Swift began strutting across the stage with her elegant composure and 1989 style (this is her 1989 World Tour, after all). She started the concert with “Welcome to New York” while wearing  a dazzling black crop top, metallic purple skirt, sparkling jacket and signature Wayfarer sunglasses. She literally lit up the entire baseball stadium — everyone in the crowd was given synchronized bracelets that flickered all night, making fans feel as if they were blissfully lost in the big city lights.

Throughout the night, Swift acknowledged her fights with critics by performing “Mean.”

It was clear that she didn’t want to let her fans down, and she didn’t. Swift played for a total of two and half hours and never held back. It wasn’t until late in the performance when she sat for a moment — playing the piano and singing “Wildest Dreams” — that she took a moment to catch her breath.

She looked flawless, dressed head-to-toe in a glittering one-piece jumpsuit, but was in full glam all night, rocking sequins, studs and even an illuminated crop top and flirty flare skirt.

Swift spent portions of the evening praising “the great city of Houston,” the place where her parents said “I do” (Swift’s mother went to Memorial High School and graduated from the University of Houston). The superstar opened up about the pressures of society, life and love, and exhibited a level of confidence that seemed to rub off on everyone in the stadium.
