The New Baseball Saloon: Texas Rangers Open a Cocktail Hotspot Even as New Billion Dollar Stadium Countdown Ticks On

BY Josie Washburn // 04.06.17

With a new baseball season here, the Texas Rangers are upping their restaurant game with a new watering hole at Globe Life Park. Rebecca Creek Saloon, brainchild of San Antonio’s Rebecca Creek Distillery, takes over the former Captain Morgan Lounge space and offers not only a prime view of the ballpark but also an exclusive menu and array of specialty cocktails.

See — even with the Rangers limping out to an 0-3 start, there’s some good news at the ballpark.

With room for 300 people, the new 4,000-square-foot saloon serves fare that includes a veggie wrap, half-rack of pork ribs, the Farm Sandwich (chicken, beef, pork), and inventive dishes like the N.E.Q. Short for “Never Ever Quit.” That sandwich is loaded with rib-eye steak, mozzarella sticks, fried jalapeños, waffle fries, onion rings, and white queso.

Because no baseball game is complete without a drink in hand, the saloon features handcrafted libations made with its namesake distillery’s offerings, such as the appropriately titled Texas Ranger Whiskey, along with Rebecca Creek Whiskey and Enchanted Rock Vodka.

Founded in 2009 by Steve Ison, the distillery has become one of the largest craft distilleries in North America. It was also the first legal distillery to open in South Texas after Prohibition, and the company hasn’t stopped growing since, selling nearly 85,000 cases annually.

It will no doubt be even bigger by the time the Rangers open their new $1 billion retractable-roof stadium for the 2020 season — and may be ready to move with the team.
