10 Great Things to Do in Dallas this Summer: Your Get Out and Go Guide

BY Promoted Series Correspondent // 06.28.17

We have a love-hate relationship with summer in Dallas. Yes, it’s hot — very hot. But our calendars are hot, too, and we’re not about to let triple digit forecasts get in the way of a good time. Considering all the ways to cool off in Dallas — from pool dips to museum trips — there’s no reason to.

Sure, some scorching days need to be spent in the comfort of your own air-conditioned home. And with the new Hive smart home plan, it’s easier than ever to turn your house into an oasis from the summer heat. The Hive app allows you to control air conditioning and more from your smartphone, saving you both energy and money.

But the best part of having a smart home might be leaving it. Forgot to turn off a light? Simply use the Hive app to switch it off remotely. Need a little extra A/C after a tough workout? Turn it down on your smartphone and come home to a cooler house.

As July nears, it’s time to start living summer to the fullest. We’ve put together a list of the best events and activities happening this season, so you can make the most of the long days and warm nights. Here’s your summer to-do list:

1). Visit the City’s Coolest Pools

With temperatures rising, it’s necessary to seek refuge in the cool waters of one of Dallas’ finest swimming pools. The Stoneleigh is breaking in their brand new pool with public “Pool Daze” nearly every weekend. Stop by for DJ-spun tunes, frozen drinks, and trendy pool floaties. Hotel Zaza’s pool bar is also open to the public, and the chic, striped lounge chairs are the perfect place to crash after brunching on McKinney. Or take in the Dallas skyline from the pool at NYLO’s Soda Bar.

Or check out ‘till Midnight at the Nasher Sculpture Center on July 21 or August 18 from 6 pm to 12 am. The museum galleries stay open late for this free monthly event which includes a live concert and film screening in the beloved Nasher garden.

 3). Hive Life Experience

Perched atop one of Dallas’ busiest highways, Klyde Warren Park has a schedule of summer activities that’s just as packed. Stop by the park this Saturday, July 1 from 10 am to 6 pm for the Hive Life Experience.

— Catch a wave at City Surf Fitness. These fun group classes use surf-inspired moves to sculpt the perfect beach bod.
