The Dallas Museum of Art announces the 25th anniversary of Silver Supper, an annual fundraiser benefiting the Museum’s Decorative Arts Acquisition Endowment Fund. Chaired by Rusty Duvall and Peggy Sewell, the annual black-tie dinner will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Dallas Museum of Art, and will honor the 75th anniversary of the Hoblitzelle Foundation.

Esther and Karl Hoblitzelle were legendary collectors of silver during the 1930’s through the 1950’s, much of which they used for entertaining. In 1987, the Hoblitzelle Foundation made a substantial gift of English and Irish Silver to the Museum, including 550 pieces as well as 47 paintings that contained 17th-century Italian and Dutch masters as well as works by 19th century American artists. The transformative gift made the Dallas Museum of Art one of America’s most important silver holdings.

From the Foundation’s generosity, an idea evolved to stage a dinner, Silver Supper, in the tradition of the Hoblitzelle parties, to build enthusiasm among patrons for the Decorative Arts program. What began as a dinner attended by less than twenty people has grown to one of the Dallas Museum of Art’s signature fundraisers.

In honor of the Foundation’s support and anniversary, the Covered Cup, one of the Foundation’s gifts, will be the signature piece for the 2017 event. Created by Paul de Lamerie, one of Europe’s finest 18th century silversmiths, the Covered Cup will be on display at the event.

Individual tickets for Silver Supper are $1,000, Patron Tickets are $2000, and sponsorships begin at $10,000. For more information on Silver Supper 2017, call 214.922.1800 or e-mail [email protected].
