What

Sons of the Flag, an organization committed to supporting military, first responder, and civilian burn survivors, once-again brings their unique military focused film festival to Dallas November 12-15. The 2ndAnnual Stars & Stripes Film Festival, presented by Stripe-A-Zone, is chaired by Tanya and Pete Foster, and honorary chairs, Margaret and Syd Carter.  Syd is a Marine Corp Veteran who served at the beginning of the Vietnam War.

The four-day festival will be held at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas’ Mockingbird Station November 12-15. The festival is a rare opportunity to watch movies about the United States Armed Forces and sit in on interactive discussions with decorated veterans who fought in the battles being shown on film. Each film will feature a speaker for the Q&A portion of the program immediately after the film.

The festival’s Opening Night Film & Party kicks off with a special showing of Patton, the 1970 film starring George C. Scott.  The film will be followed with a special conversation with the grandson of General George S. Patton, George Patton ‘Pat’ Waters.  A seated luncheon event celebrating the festival will be held on Friday, November 13 at Dallas Country Club and will feature General Tommy Franks as keynote speaker.

General Franks was appointed a director on August 26, 2013. General Franks is a retired four-star General. General Franks was promoted to Commander-in-Chief, United States Central Command in June, 2000. The world knows General Franks best following the culmination of an almost four-decade military career that saw him lead American and Coalition troops in two strategically unprecedented campaigns in two years as Commander of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.
