British Street Style: ReBooted

BY // 03.23.15

Inspired by boots from Cairo’s Old Bazaar, the classic Desert Boot, designed by Nathan Clark 65 years ago, became the statement shoe for off-duty British army officers. To celebrate this iconic boot, 190-year-old British shoemaker brand Clarks has launched an artist-initiative limited-edition Desert Boot collection, Clarks: ReBooted. Dallas’ favorite international curator, Filippo Tattoni-Marcozzi (formerly of The Goss-Michael Foundation) worked with Clarks’ creative team and 14 artists and designers to create the collection. “Shoes are the one thing that always fit me, so I could not say no to helping to design 14 versions of one of my favorite classics: Clarks’ Desert Boot.” The collection, along with one-of-a-kind works of art by each artist, will tour the world, commencing at Design Shanghai in March, then moving to Salone del Mobile in Milan in April, Frieze New York in May and CitizenM Hotel Bankside through September and October, culminating at Frieze London with a special fund-raiser auction in October. All proceeds from the auction (which will be available for online bidding) and the limited-edition collection will benefit The Halo Trust, the world’s leading humanitarian landmine-removal organization. Designers include: Adam Ball, Adam Dant, Amy Stephens, Frank Bowling, Gordon Cheung, Lee Broom, Marc Quinn, Richard Caldicott and Tom Price. But, don’t wait long: Only 250 pairs in each style are available, this month through October. $300, at the Clarks boutique, #clarksrebooted.
