The master of bespoke menswear, Sid Mashburn — his namesake Knox-Henderson and Houston boutiques are oft frequented by the most stylish gents — has gone digital. The recent debut of Mashburn’s online made-to-measure shop is an extension of the custom-fitting, in-store experience that has made the store a sought destination since its debut in 2007.
How it works? An instructional made-to-measure video informs sartorial shoppers on how to take their own measurements. (For those not interested in fussing with the tape measure, a Sid Mashburn expert can Skype of FaceTime in.) Then, the fun part: Choices are made from an edited offering of 50 fabrics, plus a limited selection collar, placket, back, pocket, cuff, and fit styles. Mashburn’s master tailor Quang Dau was instrumental in curating the options. Says Mashburn, “Not a lot of choices, but the right choices.”
“We’ve worked very hard to make it easy and accessible, because let’s be honest — no matter your job or your crowd or your day-to-day, it’s cool to have your own shirt,” Mashburn says. “We’re super-excited.”
To celebrate the digital debut, Mashburn is taking a Made-To-Measure Tour to his flagship stores. He arrives in Dallas on Friday, April 21 and stays through Saturday, April 22. In addition to Mashburn offering his one-on-one fashion and fitting advice, we hear there will be sips, bites and, yes, even ping-pong.
