For many reasons, we are sartorially inspired by fashion designer (and Dallas native) Lela Rose: We envy her effortless ability to entertain; her New York City apartment — complete with a dining table that suspends from the ceiling — is undeniably divine; and we can’t help but grin when she is photographed, stylish as ever, riding her bicycle around Manhattan.
Of course, Rose’s personal style, which is reflected in her collection each season, is what we adore the most. Hers is a modern-day hybrid of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, with a bit of artful boho thrown in for good measure. Case in point? While vacationing with family in Jackson Hole, Rose lists quite the eccentric mix of must-pack accessories including, she says, “A great pair of sunnies, my beaded Birkenstocks, some turquoise jewelry — and a dress that will take me from day to night.”
No doubt, the designer’s eponymous boutique in Highland Park Village is an oft frequented destination for us — and for the most well-heeled Dallas gals. This week, we have new cause to visit. On Thursday, April 6, from 12 pm to 5 pm, and Friday, April 7, from 10 am to 1 pm, the Lela Rose boutique will play host to a trunk show with New York-based hat maker, Yestadt Millinery.
The company’s chick chapeaux are ideal for sunny seasons — from Kentucky Derby parties to upcoming spring and summer travel — and are a most apropos accessory for any ensemble from Lela Rose’s spring/summer collection.
“I love the Luna style,” Rose says of her choice hat by Yestadt. “It’s a classic shape — perfect for your beach vacation or Saturday trip to the farmers market.” How would the darling Rose make it her own? “I love adding a cute, colorful ribbon for a pop of color,” she says.
Good news for those interested in designing their own Yestadt hat: Customization options (think cheeky accoutrements such as flowers, ribbons, and charms) will be available for instant personalization in store.
