From Neiman Marcus to Children’s Books: This Dapper Deacon Does It All With Style

BY // 10.20.15

Derrill Osborn is a man of many talents. The former VP of men’s clothing at Neiman Marcus worked alongside the legendary Stanley Marcus. A noted aesthete and fashion expert, Osborne is fond of sporting a red flower on his lapel. He’s also an illustrator, calligrapher and a deacon at the Highland Park Presbyterian Church.

Last month, he added children’s book contributor to the list: He drew the whimsical expressions and images for Zosie the Zebra, the first in a series of books by Charis Boone Johnson (co-founder of the National Registry for Adoption) and published by HPPC to benefit its mission in Njuthine, Kenya.

Osborn is not alone in the bookish effort; Dallas artist Benny Jack Hinkle III assisted in the whimsical visuals. $25, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, 214.526.7457.
