Houston’s Shopping Buzz: Hot New Stores In River Oaks, a Spin Studio Mystery and Big Galleria Changes

Following months of anticipation, Miami-based boutique The Webster has made its Houston debut in the Galleria’s detached jewel-box structure, located at 5045 Westheimer Road. At the helm, French-born Laure Hériard-Dubreuilwho has stocked The Webster with over 100 women’s and men’s designers, including Lisa Marie Fernandez, Thakoon, Alexander Wang and Maison Margiela. Saint Laurent‘s Galleria boutique renovations aren’t slowing the show. The brand officially opened a temporary store on the mall’s second floor near Neiman Marcus. The original location is undergoing an architectural renovation in order to transition the space to fit under creative director Hedi Slimane‘s design concept.

Luxury shoemaker John Lobb has opened its third U.S. boutique in River Oaks District. The store, which sits in the center of the new open-air shopping development, clocks in at 1,000 square-feet and offers the brand’s ready-to-wear collection, as well as made-to-order and bespoke products. The boutique also debuted a new line of lightweight shoes — an offering that’s sure to mesh well with Houston’s warmer climate.

Another beauty retailer makes its way to Houston as Bluemercury, the DC-based luxury beauty boutique and spa, opens its first Houston store in Rice Village at 2506 University Blvd. The 2,243 square-foot store will carry hundreds of beauty products including Bluemercury’s popular proprietary brands M-61 skincare and Lune + Aster.The company plans to open the new location in May.

New boutiques continue to roll into the River Oaks District: Beauty super brand NARS, resort-inspired lifestyle brand Roberta Roller Rabbit and family-owned sports apparel shop St. Bernard will open in 2016.

Those names will join shops and entertainment venues Baanou, BONOBOS, Brunello Cucinelli, Canali, Cartier, Chopard, COS, Dior, Diptyque, Dolce & Gabbana, Equinox, Etro, Flow juice bar, Giuseppe Zanotti, Hermès, INTERMIX, iPic Theaters, John Lobb, Kiton, L’Occitane, Les Copains, Moncler, Patek Philippe at deBoulle, Planet Blue, Roberto Cavalli, St. Nicola, Stella McCartney, The Tuck Room, Tom Ford, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vilebrequin and Vince. In addition, Akris, Anne Fontaine, Davidoff of Geneva and Harry Winston will open soon.

Known for its celebrity and cult following, New York-based spin studio SoulCycle brings its beloved concept to Houston this year. SoulCycle’s parent company Equinox opened in River Oaks District in December 2015, however,The company has not announced the location of its new Houston studio, so stay tuned.

Elizabeth Anthony hosts a trunk show highlighting Randi Rahm‘s 2016 spring collection Thursday, January 21 through Friday, January 22 from 10 am to 5 pm.

Neiman Marcus highlights all things Chanel beauty with a Chanel mega event starting Wednesday, January 20 through Saturday, January 23 from 10 am to 5pm. Giorgio Armani and Armani Collezioni trunk shows follow on Thursday, January 21 from 10 am to 3 pm. Le Metier De Beaute‘s global makeup artist Ivan Castro rounds out the month with a personal appearance on Saturday, January 23 from 10 am to 5 pm.

Sift through all things Escada during a spring 2016 trunk show at Saks Fifth Avenue on Thursday, January 21 through Friday, January 22 from 10 am to 5 pm.
