The old adage goes something like: you can’t understand a man until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes. Luckily, Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo has done the figurative legwork for us with today’s launch of their latest project entitled A Man’s Story. The portrait and video series rounds up stylish, influential and above-all successful tastemakers that include actor Douglas Booth, musician A$AP Rocky, sportsman Henrik Lundqvist, and artist Ryan McGinley. Photographed and filmed by Francesco Carrozzini, each story reveals a pivotal decision made along the subject’s own unique and untraveled road to success. Carrozzini explains, “What links these young men is their single-minded approach to life. They’ve not been afraid to make their own rules.”
The project not only celebrates these successful innovators, but also pays homage to the brand’s own heritage and pioneering spirit. Celebrating Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti’s 15-year journey with the brand, the project and corresponding collection of men’s footwear highlights Giornetti’s personal connection to the Ferragamo story. He says, “For a man to have a vision and the courage of his convictions is both noble and timeless, as relevant today as it was a century ago when Salvatore Ferragamo went out on a limb to launch his shoe-making business. Had he not have taken that risk, this brand…may never have existed.” Although the road to great success is often uncertain, should you choose to trek your own undiscovered path, stylish shoes will make the journey that much more fun.
