Texas Design Week Continues: Pop-Up Shop Featuring Local Textile, Furniture, and Lighting Designers Open Through June

BY // 06.13.17

Thirty-six hours of programming, 31 speakers from across the country, 10 featured product makers, 990 glasses of wine, and 720 cocktails. We’re still on a high from the inaugural Texas Design Week.

The main event may be over, but West Egg Pop-Up Shop, which debuted as part of TXDW programming, continues at West Avenue through the month of June (Thursdays, 1 to 6 pm; Saturdays, 2 to 5 pm; and by appointment until June 30). The West Egg pop-up shop, located on the ground level near Eddie V’s, features designers Ronda Rice Carman, Elizabeth Ingram, and C. Damien Fox.

Longtime design blogger/decorating book author Ronda Rice Carman debuted her fabric collection Ronda Carman Fabrics in 2014. Inspired by her years spent living in Scotland, she partnered with a centuries-old Scottish textile mill to produce tartans and menswear stripes in linen, silk and other fine fabrics. She crafted a smart Ronda Carman Fabrics caftan for herself to promote the collection, and you can guess what happened next: She received overwhelming requests from clients wanting a menswear-striped caftan of their own.

Earlier this year, Carman officially added the short caftans to her product offerings at an impressively reasonable price point, given the quality of the fabric. See the complete Ronda Carman Fabrics collection, as well as her new collection of long and short caftans. From $295, through rondacarman.com.

Atlanta Interior designer Elizabeth Ingram — the brilliant mind behind the interiors of Houston’s State of Grace restaurant (which received runner-up in the 2017 Houston PaperCity Design Awards) — opened a local design office, Elizabeth Ingram Studio, earlier this year and launched her furniture and lighting collection with Elegant Earth a few months later. This isn’t Ingram’s first foray into furniture design — she designed furniture for Mark Sage’s Bobo Intriguing Objects (the wholesaler for brands including Restoration Hardware). Her sleek and sophisticated collection of chunky and elegant stools, chairs, and sofas has a sensual edge, utilizing concrete, brass, walnut and rich velvet upholstery.

Ingram recently was named the Southeast Designer of the Year in the Contract Category by Veranda and Atlanta Decorative Arts Center.
