McAlpine is the author of the best-selling book, The Home Within Us (Rizzoli), and co-author with designer Susan Ferrier of The Art of the House (Rizzoli). McAlpine’s work has been published in The New York Times, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, House & Garden and a host of other publications.
