If you still think of Plano as a suburb of Dallas, think again. The city’s $3.2 billion dollar development Legacy West is changing everything and it will break ground on its first high-rise condominium building early next month. The 27-story, 104-unit Windrose Tower aims to bring a taste of city living to the northern corner of the metroplex.

Located in the Legacy West Urban Village, the building will be a short walk from numerous restaurants, shops, and office spaces.  Legacy West has become Dallas’ hottest outpost with upscale new retail and dining options, and huge corporations such as Toyota setting up shop.

As of April, more than 80 percent of the condominium’s saleable square footage had already been reserved by future residents.

“In addition to local residents who have been asking for a luxury high-rise product, we saw the demand increase exponentially with the announcement of Toyota, Liberty Mutual and FedEx Office moving to the area,” co-developer Jim Duggan says.

The Windrose is currently the only high rise condominium planned for Legacy West.

The tower will be designed by GDA Architects, whose previous projects include The Vendome, Residences at the Stoneleigh, Museum Tower and Cirque. Windrose will have a transitional style architecture, blending together classic and contemporary.

Each of the luxury units will include floor-to-ceiling windows, premium Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and spacious balconies with built-in fireplaces. Residents will also have access to a state-of-the-art gym, a spa, a resort-style pool, and an outdoor living room with a kitchen.

“Windrose Tower is ideal for those who desire unprecedented services and amenities, a high-rise, lock and leave lifestyle  and a walkable way of life in the heart of Legacy West,” Duggan says.

Plano may have started out as a business hub, but it’s become a one-stop-shop for professionals seeking work and play. In addition to hosting corporate headquarters, Legacy West is a dining and entertainment destination.

Al Coker, whose firm Al Coker & Associates are overseeing marketing and sales for Windrose Tower, says the pre-construction demand is remarkable.

“Our prospective homeowners are selecting units for both primary and secondary homes,” Coker notes in a release. “Reservations are coming from North Texans as well as from buyers across the country. I have never seen pre-construction demand so high at such an early stage.”
