Texas’ Top Bloggers Throw the Ultimate Cinco de Mayo Party: Watch the Exclusive Video For Lauren Snyder’s Tips

When PaperCity was invited to cook and dine in food blogger Lauren Snyder‘s kitchen, we had no idea what kind of culinary tricks she had up her sleeve. The plans were made with one very important holiday in mind: Cinco de Mayo. The self-taught foodie behind Method to My Meals is not only a master at culinary tricks — efficient grocery shopping, crafting homemade appetizers, and concocting inventive dishes out of left-overs — but she’s stylish to boot.

So, when Snyder’s recipe for a Mexican fiesta started coming together, we had no doubt it would be a festive and delicious occasion. After a quick trip to Central Market for key ingredients, Snyder headed home, where a fashionable pack of her friends and an endless supply of margaritas awaited.

Here is her essential Cinco de Mayo menu:

Step One: Gal pals. 

Who was there? Lynsey Eaton of Tomboy KC, a fashion and lifestyle expert, famous for her love of champagne and pizza; Cathy Williamson, one of the most fashionable moms, wives, and grandmothers we know and the voice behind The Middle Page; Kari Schlegel Kloewer and Krystal Schlegel, the sisters we wish we had. We obsess over Schlegel’s ladylike image with a touch of edge; and Kloewer’s new Jojo Mommy blog takes parenting to stylish new heights. Lastly, Heather Anderson of So Heather, a blog focused on ways to be chic at all ages.

Snyder went for a killer mango-jalapeno margarita. The secret ingredients are two of our favorites: Casa Dragones blanco tequila and Tajin seasoning for the glasses’ rims.

Step Three: Fresh nibbles.

Two of the most essential party appetizers got an upgrade. First, salsa that matched the margaritas, complete with mango, red bell pepper and cilantro. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a fiesta without an ample supply of guacamole. Snyder’s Rockin’ Guac is simple and quick to fix. The perfect duo to set your party up for success.

Step Four: Forget the tacos.

Who knew carne empanadas could be so simple to make. Lauren put us to the test, employing us all to prep the empanada dough with a flavorful beef filling. The empty plates and full stomachs speak for themselves.
