Rock Star Celebrity Chef Brings Attitude to New Restaurant-Nightclub: Texas’ Hottest Development Just Got a Little Edgy

BY // 06.21.17

If you’re trying to combine a restaurant and a nightclub, having a rock star chef certainly helps. At least that’s the idea behind The Brixton, the posh new addition to the ever-growing Shops at Legacy. The hybrid restaurant-lounge is putting celebrity chef Patrick Stark in the kitchen and (occasionally) on the stage.

Stark has appeared on Food Network shows such as Rewrapped, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Mystery Diners, and also happens to play guitar in band Amusé. With his signature mohawk and renaissance man attitude, the chef is a perfect representation of The Brixton: trendy, fun, and a little irreverent.

The restaurant is the latest project from brothers Brian Harder and Jerry Dean Elliot of Harder Concepts, the team behind popular spots Scruffy Duffies and Ringo’s Pub. With their third addition to the Shops at Legacy, Harder Concepts is trying to bring Austin’s Sixth Street to Plano. Considering how successful their previous endeavors have been, The Brixton is set to become the area’s new hotspot for nightlife and light dining.

The diverse menu is designed for snacking, sharing, and socializing, with an assortment of “Bites & Nibbles,” as well as several heartier options. The Bacon Bites with salted caramel and apple are an indulgent way to start your meal, while the Bloody Mary Shrimp Shooters kill two birds with one vodka-laden stone.

Stark has also planned the menu to be friendly to gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan diners. In addition to vegan items, there are a range of CBV — can be vegan — items that the restaurant will specially tailor upon request.

That’s just one example of the chef’s thoughtful approach to food. The Brixton is committed to supporting local farms and non GMO food as well. That’s a crucial point for Stark, who operates a 501-3C charity called Mohawk Militia, focused on preaching the power of clean food.

The nonprofit is partnering up with the new restaurant and Community Beer to present Taste of Sound at The Brixton on June 24. The charity event will include a six course tasting – with Stark and Amusé playing a set to complement each one.

You can try out the Brixton’s full menu of eats and craft cocktails at the grand opening on Friday, June 23.
