Houston’s Ultimate Crawfish Guide: 10 Restaurant Specials and Events No Mudbug Lover Should Miss

BY // 04.14.17

Crawfish season is in full swing, which means mud bugs of all varieties have secured top billing across the Bayou City. Of course, classic Houston crawfish haunts often take center stage during this time of the year with staples ranging from Viet-Cajun crawdads via Crawfish and Noodles to a Tex-Orleans rendition at BB’s Cafe.

(We know many diehard Houston crawfish lovers have already secured their go-to craw-spot, but if you’re still on the hunt, check out PaperCity‘s Top 10 Crawfish Restaurants here.)

But it’s not just the tried and true favorites getting in on the crawfish action this year. You’d be surprised by where some of the best specials are hiding. We’ve rounded up a list of 10 new crawfish deals and events you should tackle this weekend and beyond.

Crawfish Specials
Eight Row Flint,
1039 Yale Street, agricolehospitality.com/eight-row-flintIf you missed Eight Row’s epic $1 per pound crawfish special last week, you’re probably kicking yourself. The bad news is that I’m not here to tell you that the deal is returning.

However, the good news is that you can still snag the whiskey icehouse’s flavor-packed crawfish every Sunday for $5 per pound. Don’t forget to grab a brussels sprout taco and frozen gin and tonic while you’re there.

Hungry’s, 2356 Rice Boulevard, hungryscafe.com. Hungry’s isn’t new, but it’s Upstairs Bar and Lounge is, which is honestly reason enough to indulge in the restaurant’s weekly crawfish special. Enjoy mud bugs every Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday on the rooftop patio starting at 4 pm.

Seven dollars will get you a pound of crawfish paired with corn and potatoes, while $4 Texas beers are also on tap.

Laurenzo’s Bar & Grill, 1910 Bagby Street, laurenzosbarandgrill.com. Laurenzo’s is ringing in its first crawfish season by bringing a bevy of deals to Midtown. Coined “Crawfish Wednesdays,” the weekly event features crawfish, corn, and potatoes for $5 per pound, as well as $22 Corona beer buckets and $4 Fireball shots.

Lucille’s, 5512 La Branch Street, lucilleshouston.com. Lucille’s may be known for its globally-inspired Southern cuisine, but it will tack crawfish onto its menu starting this Saturday, April 15 (just in time for the holiday weekend). Stop by every Saturday for $12 crawfish baskets from 4 to 8 pm accompanied by live music and a DJ on the outdoor patio.

Max’s Wine Dive, 214 Fairview Street, maxswinedive.com. Fried chicken and champagne are not Max’s only specialty. This week, the popular restaurant launched “Mud Bug Monday’s” on the patio from 5 to 10 pm. Indulge in crawfish for $5 per pound, or get more bang for your buck with five pounds for $20.

Weekly beer specials are also available.
