Comic’s New Food Network Reality Series Focuses on Texas: This Guy is no Dummy

BY // 05.19.17

What happens when a ventriloquist and his food-blogger wife turn his comedy tour into the ultimate foodie road trip? Tune into Food Network’s new series, Incredible Edible America with the Dunhams, premiering June 5 to find out.

Over the course of six episodes, comic Jeff Dunham and his wife Audrey will make stops in Austin, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and, most importantly, the comic’s hometown of Dallas. The couple hunted down the most decadent and delectable dishes in each city from a yard-long sandwich with Philly cheesesteak, cheeseburger, and mozzarella, to ice cream with donut cones. Having two of the six episodes based entirely in Texas already shows good judgement.

The show features the local chefs behind the daring creations, as well as a few of Jeff Dunham’s favorite characters.

Incredible Edible America will kick off the culinary adventure with the Austin episode, and the Dallas episode will air June 26.

Which Dallas hotspots made the cut?

Cattleack Barbecue, a tiny BBQ joint near The Galleria that serves critically-acclaimed brisket in a down-home setting, for one. Owner and pitmaster Todd David will teach the couple how to make his “Toddfather” sandwich with brisket, pulled pork, and a hot link.

Mapleleaf Diner in Far North Dallas — owned by Michael and Debbie DeLaurier whose family restaurant in Ontario was previously featured on Food Network Canada — will also be spotlighted. The Dunhams will hone in on the restaurant’s chicken-fried steak and waffles.

Rounding out the Dallas trio is Woodshed Smokehouse in Fort Worth, where celebrity chef Tim Love cooks up 16-hour smoked beef shin and smoked chocolate pie. Love is no stranger to Food Network, having appeared on Top Chef Masters, and Iron Chef America (which he won).

These restaurants’ Food Network ties make them natural picks for the show, but how incredible are they really? You’ll have to find out for yourself, but do it quickly – once the show airs, these eateries will be flooded with diners.

With Dallas’ ever-growing assortment of extraordinary eateries, it’s hard to narrow it down to just three. The Dunhams made some smart picks, but there are plenty more deserving spots. Tell us what would be on your must-try list instead in the comments section.
