Houston’s Improving Pizza Scene Adds a New Fast “Fine Dining” Fave: And Opening Day Means Free Pizza

The Houston pizza scene adds another restaurant to its ranks as MidiCi: The Neapolitan Pizza Company revealed today that it will officially open its doors at the Kirby Grove development (2925 Richmond Avenue) on August 11.

While the brand is already popular for its location in Katy, this outposts marks its first Inside the Loop restaurant. It neighbors the recently renovated Levy Park and Indian restaurant Kiran’s revamped digs .

“Opening our first location inside the loop in Houston marks a milestone in our expansion,” franchisee Keon Suber says. “We’re confident that our location will create a lasting bond with the Houston community for years to come.”

If you’re not familiar with the California-based MidiCi chain, the concept — which has also expanded to Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Colorado in just the last two years — is best known for its natural, non-GMO, traditional Neapolitan pizzas fashioned with crust made with just four ingredients: Neapolitan flour, water, sea salt, and yeast.

Guests order their pizzas assembly line-style, before the Neapolitan pies are baked off in a wood-burning oven for a quick 90 seconds.

“MidiCi is bridging the gap between fast casual and full-service restaurants. I like to call MidiCi fast fine dining, and it certainly isn’t something Houston has seen before,” Suber says. “It adds something new and fresh to the many great restaurants Houston has to offer.”

Pizzas range from the classic margherita and the truffle and prosciutto to the double pepperoni and eggs n’ bacon. Patrons also have the option to create their own pizza.

Will MidiCi’s approach standout against Houston’s existing Neapolitan pizzerias Cane Rosso, Dolce Vita, and Pizaro’s? We’ll let you know after its debut next month.

Until then, Houstonians can brace themselves for MidiCi inner loop arrival by bracing for its grand opening celebration on Friday, August 11, and Saturday, August 12, from 11am to 1am, and Sunday, August 13 from 11 am to 11 pm where each guest will receive a free margherita pizza.
