Trendy New Sushi Restaurant Creates Buzz in Dallas: Nightclub King Jumps Into Dining

BY Josie Washburn // 02.17.17

Dallas’ new sushi spot is sure to make even the biggest fish fans fawn. The highly anticipated Nikkei restaurant opened this week on Cedar Springs, poised to draw a crowd of stylish trendsetters.

Nikkei is the brainchild of hospitality group Milkshake Concepts, led by Imran Sheikh and Asim Sheikh, the latter of whom is responsible for Dallas hot spots Purgatory and Zouk.

Imran describes Nikkei as offering a “cuisine that’s reflective of a unique history and tradition to the city” amid a Dallas dining scene that is constantly expanding.

The Japanese-Peruvian style eatery can satisfy everyone from the most traditional sushi snobs to the more adventurous eaters. Nikkei features a fully stocked sushi bar with every classic roll imaginable, plus unique ones like the Doble Cangrejo Roll (crisp lump crab, shiso panca, garlic, chili, and creamy snow crab in a soy wrapper). But sushi isn’t all this new hotspot has to offer. Head chefs Nick Harrison and Ross Demers promise an exotic mix of Japanese-Peruvian dishes which are both mouthwatering and approachable.

Those wanting to extend their time at the restaurant will be thrilled to know their communal dining experience transforms into a late-night bar on weekends with an expansive rooftop patio and breathtaking views of the Crescent and beyond.

The full menu will be available starting Monday, February 20. Call 214.983.1525 for reservations.

Nikkei, 2404 Cedar Springs Road, Suite 400, 214.983.1525.
