To officially unveil Downtown’s most uncommon, unconventional, and extraordinary storefront, Brian Bolke arranges a whirlwind trio of parties. PaperCity European editor at large Filippo Tattoni-Marcozzi takes leave from the international jet set and heads to Dallas for the most eccentric weekend the city has ever seen.

The only thing I’ll have to buy online from now on is a ticket to Dallas — to shop at the new Forty Five Ten on Main. To celebrate the opening of the stunning four-floor fashion mecca, Forty Five Ten president and co-founder Brian Bolke and Tim Headington, CEO of Headington Companies, hosted a most fun, amusing, and inspiring 36 hours in their city.

A hoard of out-of-town guests comprising designers, artists, journalists, friends, and eccentrics in general descended on downtown Dallas to celebrate the newest addition to the ever-changing cultural and architectural landscape.

Thursday night, I picked up my date — Houston glamour ambassador at large Becca Cason Thrash, stunning in Lanvin, Alaïa, and diamond brooches — at The Joule hotel and crossed the street to join the party: an intimate dinner fueled by Dom Pérignon. The John Galliano-designed elevator provided colorful transportation through the store, where a perfectly edited selection of known fashion houses and young designers are brilliantly showcased.

On Friday, a tour of superb private Dallas art collections hosted by Gayle Stoffel, Deedie Rose, Cindy and Howard Rachofsky, and Marguerite Hoffman, reminded all visitors of the important work this community does toward the elevation of the city to an arts and culture capital, and how the rejuvenation of Downtown and the new store fit within a much larger and important social and urban scheme.

Adam Lippes, fresh from a trunk show in Houston, was Cindy Rachofsky’s designer of choice. She wore his couture Thursday night and a look from his resort collection for a Friday luncheon she hosted at her and Howard’s private educational art space, The Warehouse. Her jewelry that afternoon — stunning bangles — was by designer Ippolita Rostagno, who was in attendance.

Elaine Agather was also a luncheon co-host, and at each seat, guests received a note with her famous Elaine’s Eight words of wisdom.

On Friday night, the theme was The Eccentrics to celebrate the inspirational personalities photographed by Ruven Afanador for a limited-edition Assouline book. My boring contribution was just the eccentric price tag of my Tom Ford suit.

Iris Apfel

And although some guests attempted to emulate the original Iris Apfel, Lauren Ezersky, Douglas Little, Lynn Yaeger, or Patrick McDonald (all in attendance and in full, true eccentric gear!), to me real eccentricity must always be understated luxury. Therefore the prize for best-dressed man goes to my friend Robert Hallam, wearing a cashmere Berluti jacket and sweater in fading shades of pearl grays so soft it felt like butter … I had to refrain from getting too friendly!

Nancy Rogers looked Hollywood glamour in a silk jumpsuit by one of Forty Five Ten’s young talents. Christen Wilson, in no need of extra eccentricity, was divine in a dress by young Russian designer Vika Gazinskaya, who herself looked adorable in one of her blue creations. And since the devil is in the details, I have to mention Deedie Rose’s white-gold necklace cast in the shape of a Basquiat cardboard crown by David Bielander — a wearable sculpture.

Tim Headington, charmer-in-chief, welcomed everyone who came to fête from near and far. When introduced to Lorenzo Martone, he declared he loves his unique bikes so much that they hang them on the wall like works of art.

Douglas Little designed the most amusing lab to showcase his recently launched perfume line. As each of his scents is so natural you can drink them, he infused vodka shots with the parfum, amusing every one of the guests’ senses.

The night culminated with the unbelievable Dita Von Teese performing her martini-glass bath and feathers burlesque routine for the excited crowd on the rooftop of The Joule. After some dancing — with tunes courtesy of the fabulous Lucy Wrubel, who of course had to include Spice Girls classics — the diehards descended into the Midnight Rambler, where the beautiful Erin Wasson hosted the after-after-after party.

As for me? A rose-gold, limited-edition watch Bolke designed in collaboration with Fossil will remind me when it’s time to fly back and take the journey all over again!
