A Famed L.A. Food Project Swims Into Houston: One of City’s Best Seafood Restaurants Hosts Anticipated Dinner

BY // 09.23.16

Husband-and-wife duo Octavio and Sharon Olivas bring their beloved Los Angeles-based pop-up experience Ceviche Project to Houston for one night only. That’s this Sunday night at Peska Seafood Culture, the high-end restaurant in BLVD Place.

The five-course traveling seafood events came to fruition in 2011 because Octavio, a Mexico City native, yearned for outstanding ceviche in LA.

Unhappy with the available choices, the trained chef started Ceviche Project, which began popping up in restaurants and homes across California (it has also taken place in wine bars and country clubs and participated in the Los Angeles Street Food Festival. The couple travels the world to try different types of ceviche, which later end up as dishes on their ever-evolving pop-up menu.

This marks Ceviche Project’s first appearance in Houston. Expect prime raw seafood married with various forms of citrus (sometimes surprise ingredients, including truffles, make an appearance). Guests are also treated to cocktail pairings courtesy Don Julio, as well as calypso and cumbia music.
