PC Moment: Highlights of any mid-summer hejira to Aspen are the cooler weather and frolicking amid the  mountain splendor. So it was that more than 100 supporters of Houston Methodist jetted in (OK, some were already summering there) for a day of play designed as friend-raising as opposed to fundraising for the leading hospital.

Links lovers gathered early for tee times at the Aspen Golf Club for the annual Grand Rounds Golf Open while non-golfers were treated to a tour of two private homes. The day’s events were hosted by Cam and Rod Canion, Nancy and Jack Dinerstein, and Lesha and Tom Elsenbrook, while good Houston neighbors Bayou City Capital and Sewell Automotive Companies sponsored the golf and an evening reception, respectively.

Houston Methodist president and CEO Dr. Marc Boom led the post-links reception at the Aspen Golf Club where he shared insights on the latest advances in research, education and patient care. Also lending their expertise were Dr. Jeremy Finkelstein, chief of emergency medicine, and Dr. Dale Hamilton, director of the Center for Bioenergetics. Adding a note of fun to the proceedings was a raffle that included a dinner for 12 at the home of Drs. Julie and Marc Boom. Proceeds benefited the Translational Research Initiative at Houston Methodist.
