What: MainStreet America “Changing Lives . . . Building for the Future” gala

Where: MainStreet America headquarters

PC Moment: By earning $425,000 in proceeds, the gala brought the five-year total of fundraising for the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children’s Hospital to a whopping $1 million, a milestone not only for NRI but also for gala founders Barbara and Mike Feigin, CFO and CEO of MainStreet America. It also meant a high five for gala chairs Tracy and Richard Wilken. Researchers including Dr. Mingshan Xue and Dr. Xiaolong Jiang were on hand to discuss advancements in research into conditions including autism, Rett syndrome, bipolar disorder and epilepsy. Houston Public Media’s Ernie Manouse kept the night moving by serving as both emcee and auctioneer.
