Shake Shack Hits Houston Early: Special High-End Restaurant Collaboration Lessens the Wait for Burger Devotees
BY Jailyn Marcel // 09.26.16Shake Shack is making a splash in Downtown.
Fans of New York-based gourmet burger chain Shake Shack won’t have to wait much longer for a taste of the Shack’s signature burgers and crinkle-cut fries. While the brand’s first Houston location (in The Galleria) isn’t slated to open until late in the year, Houstonians will get a sneak peek of what’s to come during a Shake Shack pop-up at The Pass & Provisions restaurant in just a few weeks.
The partnership isn’t too surprising, considering Pass & Provisions chef Terrence Gallivan worked under Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer at his New York City restaurant The Modern. Shake Shack culinary director Mark Rosati also visited Houston last month and dined at the Taft Street restaurant. Culinary kismet perhaps?
The Pass & Provisions rear parking lot will morph into a Shake Shack of sorts, giving patrons the chance to gorge on Shack burgers and fries, alongside wood-fired pizzas and soft serve from Provisions. Saint Arnold Brewing Company & 8th Wonder Brewery will provide a bevy of brews.
“Shake Shack is a New York institution. It represents some of our favorite things about living, working, and finding our way in the city,” Pass & Provisions chefs Gallivan and Seth Siegel Gardner emailed. “We are excited to host an iconic burger joint, in our home P&P.”
Shake Shack is also on schedule to debut its second Houston location in Rice Village at 6205 Kirby Drive (currently La Madeleine’s spot) in 2017.
